What easyish cheap handling upgrades can I make to my AX Forte 1.4i? Springs, torsion bar and wider alloys +??

At the moment i'm just planning on lowering or buying a new rear torsion bar, front lowering springs and wider alloys. Will this significantly improve handling? It's nearly as fast as a GT, but it handles like a sponge. Also what should I buy to improve BHP, accel and speed? I am looking to spend about �500 in total, handling mods and everything.
