Don't worry any longer. It is quite possible and common to get false-positive ELISA and negative Western Blot. That is what the Western Blot is for.....a confirmation after less sensitive screening is performed. Western Blots are only performed on positive screen results due to the amount of time it takes to perform the test. Be thankful that there are confirmatory tests. And, be thankful that your physician is caring. His note was very personal and comforting, while informative and accurate.
