Help with new guinea pig...Do they ever get adjusted to their new home and owner?

I bought a guinea pig about 5 days ago, and am still having a hard time with him getting adjusted. I try to get him out everyday and pet and play with him but when I do, he acts really petrified and trys to hide and wont let me cuddle him. He makes little grunting noises that makes me think he is hurting or something. I know they are supposed to be very friendly and playful animals, but I am worried he wont ever let me play with him. How long does it usually take these animals to adjust and ger comfortable? Any suggestions on how I could make it easier for him and what I could do to make him less frightened?

What if there was never any 'falling in love' or physical chemistry between you? What if your husband told you he was not, nor had ever been attracted to you. Is it totally selfish to go your separate ways, amicably, and look for that elusive something that may very well never be found?

Kids throwing trantrum in store? 2?

I am a parent of three. I do not give into to my children and i don't take them out of the store. For the simple fact that if i were to do that they would never learn how to act in public. I take my children to the bathroom so they won't disturb anyone if its a big fit and talk to them about what they are doing wrong until they calm down. If its a huge fit i take them to the bathroom and they get a spat on the behind with an open palm (which isn't much considering they are still in pull-ups) to get there attention and then we talk it out. Small fits they usually get a warning that they will go to the bathroom. They don't misbehave that often so when they get in trouble they act as if its something new to them. hen they do throw fits it really upsets me to see people stare like i have horrible children because they are generally good kids it makes me wonder if they have kids and if they do were there kids born perfect. It also ticks me off to see parents give into there children because i wonder if one day those are the going to be the delinquents robbing my house or bullying my children in school.There parents who leave the store completely make me wonder if there beating there children out in the parking lot.

If I was moving away from light at the same speed as light, would I see if for an indefinite time?

Say a star was shining light, and I started moving away from the star at the speed of light. Would I be able to see the burst of light that the star gave off just as I started moving for as long as I moved at that speed? Let's say that moving at the speed of light has no effect on the way time is flowing for me.
